Story Notes: I just watched ‘Sunday’ again and I couldn’t help but wonder what possessed Elizabeth to let a man like Mike Branton kiss her. So this is sort of an explanation for that. The second part of the story is a way for me to vent my frustrations towards that irritating man... does it show I really don’t like him ;^)

Spoilers: ‘Sunday’
Summary: A week after the events in ‘Sunday’, Elizabeth has a confession to make.
Disclaimer: Not mine and will never be mine.
John was talking. She knew he was because his mouth was moving. He was sitting in her office, talking about some military issues, but she hadn’t heard a word he had said so far. Her mind was somewhere else completely.
“I kissed Mike Branton.” She blurted out.
John stopped talking mid-sentence and stared at her; one of his eyebrows slowly moving up in confusion.
He stayed quiet for a few moments and finally managed to squeak out a “What?”
“Last week on our mandatory day off. He took me to lunch and then kissed me.” Elizabeth couldn’t help but blush. She barely realized why she was confessing this to John.
John stared at her, his mouth slightly open. He wanted to ask why after taking her for breakfast, lunch and dinner so many countless times, they had never kissed. But he stayed quiet and let jealousy take a hold of him. He barely knew Mike Branton, but if he would ever walk into him, Branton would know the full force of John’s fists.
“I hope you’ll be happy together.” John hissed between his teeth and before she could utter another word, he had gotten up from the chair and walked out of her office.
John knew it was unprofessional, but right now he didn’t care. A feeling of jealousy he had never felt before coursed through his body and stabbed his heart mercilessly. He needed to get as far away as possible from her and try to distract his mind and heart.
Elizabeth was still in her office, staring at the slightly open door. She never would have expected this sort of emotional reaction from him. It made her realize that there really was more between them then just friendship. She needed to talk to him. Explain why she had kissed Mike and eventually turned him down.
John glared at a panting Teyla. They had been sparring for the last half hour and John had managed to overcome every attack she had made. He was pissed off and it was showing in his aggressive posture.
“John, are you sure you are alright?” Teyla asked.
“For the fifth time: I’m fine.” He growled and attacked her, punching her to the ground in three swift moves. He jumped on top of her and kissed her fiercely. It was all he could think off to keep his mind away from the onslaught of pain his heart was enduring.
“Oh my god.”
They both turned to the gasp in the doorway and saw a horrified Elizabeth standing there, a hand clasped over her mouth and shock combined with pain was evident in her eyes. Before either could say something, she had run off.
John got off of Teyla and cursed so hard Teyla could hardly believe her ears. She got up from the floor too and turned to him.
“You do not love me, John, so why did you kiss me?”
He shrugged; he didn’t want to voice his reasoning.
“Did you find out Elizabeth kissed Mike Branton?” Teyla had heard the rumors, but she had put no believe in them until now.
John glared at her. “I didn’t find out, she told me!” He nearly yelled.
“Do you not wonder why she told you something that private?”
He didn’t answer.
“Go after her, John. Talk to her.”
John lingered for a few moments, then nodded and walked towards the door. Before exiting he turned back to Teyla.
“Sorry about the whole... you know.”
Teyla nodded. “I understand, but try it again and I will hurt you badly.”
John gave her a weak smile and walked out. He needed to find Elizabeth and he knew where she hid when she wanted to be alone.
The walk was very long, but very worth it. The balcony was on the outskirts of the city. It wasn’t facing the sea like most balconies, but it was facing the city and the view was absolutely breath taking. It was the place Elizabeth went to when she needed some time alone. Where she went to when she needed time to think. The place she went to when she needed to escape.
She wanted to cry, scream and yell, but did none of it and just stared at the city, replaying in her mind what she had just witnessed. John had been fiercely kissing Teyla on the floor of the gym. She had felt her heart break the moment she had laid eyes on them.
Even Simon confessing to her that he had someone else hadn’t hurt so much.
“I’m sorry.”
She nearly jumped out of her skin by the sudden whisper behind her.
“I hope you’ll be happy together.” She said softly, repeating his own words.
She heard him sigh and her heart sped up when instead of standing next to her, he stayed behind her and put his hands around her on the railing, his arms barely touching her body and his chest only a hair away from her back. She felt his breath on the back of her neck and she cursed the goosebumps that started to pop up, probably clearly visible to him.
“Why did you tell me you kissed Branton?” He whispered in her ear, which made her shiver.
“I let him kiss me for all the wrong reasons.” She confessed. “Why did you kiss Teyla?” She immediately asked.
“For all the wrong reasons.” He breathed against her neck and she swore she could feel just a wisp of his lips on her skin. It made the butterflies in her stomach liven up and her knees weaken.
She could feel his arms inching closer around her.
“Tell me why, ‘Liz’beth.”
She shut her eyes, reveling in his closeness. “It was a way for me to try and forget about a man I couldn’t be with because we both command this expedition. Why did you do it?”
“I wanted to forget about a woman who broke my heart when she confessed about kissing another man.”
She turned around to face him and her breath stuck in her throat when she saw the look in his eyes. The combination of love, want, lust, adoration and respect drew her in instantly.
Carefully she put her hands on his chest and she felt his hands loosen the railing. One landed on her back while the other graced her hip.
“You know this is impossible.” She said barely audible.
“That’s why we’ve been trying to ignore this thing between us for so long.” He said, inching closer to her until he could feel her rapid breath on his lips.
“Ignoring it has been slowly tearing us apart.” She whispered.
“We should stop ignoring it.” He concluded and brushed his lips with hers. It didn’t matter how short and chaste it was, it told them both what they had known for a long time.
“Definitely.” She agreed when John released her lips, only to claim his in a deeper kiss, pouring all the feelings she had for him in it.
He groaned and let their tongues fight a sensual dance while his hands explored her back, pulling her closer into him.
She moaned when his hands found a patch of naked flesh between her shirt and pants. Her hands fingered his hair while she pushed herself nearer to him.
His lips traveled from her lips to her chin and made their way to her neck where he sucked and kissed every patch of naked skin he came across. She knew it would leave marks, but she couldn’t seem to care about that. Just the fact that he left a mark that showed she belonged to him turned her on even more. She felt him unzip her jacket and push it off her shoulders.
“Not here.” She moaned a half-hearted protest.
“Here. Now.” He growled in her ear.
“People could come.” She whispered barely audible.
“No one knows we’re here and no one knows this balcony is here.”
“You found me here.”
He stopped kissing her neck and stood straight, looking her in the eye. “Keeping you safe is part of my job. I need to know at all times where you are. So it’s only logical I know your hide-outs. And now shut up.” He grinned and claimed her lips again. “We’re doing this here and now.”
She giggled and wanted to utter another protest, but when his hand brushed the side of her breast and she felt his arousal push against her, all rational thought vanished from her mind. She didn’t care anymore about getting caught; the entire IOA could walk in on them for all she cared.
“I love you.” She whispered between kisses.
“Same here.” He answered without missing a beat.

Rodney groaned in frustration. Branton was bragging again. He had been bragging for a week now about that kiss he had apparently shared with Elizabeth. Elizabeth hadn’t said a word about it, which made Rodney think that she had immediately realized it was a mistake. But Branton kept bragging about getting her to fall for his charm and into his bed one of these days. Branton was a womanizer and an irritating prick and Rodney couldn’t believe Elizabeth hadn’t seen that in the man. She was normally a very good judge of character.
He let out a sigh as he stared out of the window. They were working in a newly discovered science lab far away from the main tower and Rodney hated it that Branton was send to accompany him and the other two scientists.
He suddenly spotted some movement far away from his location and his curious nature took over as he grabbed the binoculars in his bag.
Locating the source of the movement, his mouth fell open. He could clearly see John’s face and there was a very naked woman in his arms; and they were going at it like Energizer bunnies against the balcony railing. Rodney wondered who the woman was, she looked slightly familiar, but he couldn’t put a name on her bare back alone.
He gasped and the binoculars nearly fell out of his hands when she slightly turned around and he had a clear view of her face too.
“Elizabeth.” Rodney whispered, completely flabbergasted.
He heard laughter behind him and turned to see Branton brag again against the scientists. Rodney switched his gaze a few times to look at the far away movement and back to Branton. A grin appeared on his face when he knew what he had to do to shut this annoying apeman up.
“Mike, can you come over here for a minute?” He asked.
“Sure thing, doc.” Branton smiled and made his way over to the scientist.
“Here.” Rodney said and pushed the binoculars in his hands. “Do you see that movement all the way over there?” He said and pointed to the designated spot.
Branton squeezed his eyes and nodded.
“Can you look at it and tell me what you see?”
Branton raised the binoculars and stared at the scene. “Damn, Sheppard is a lucky basta...”
Rodney could see the exact moment when Branton realized who it was that John was getting lucky with.
He took the binoculars from Branton and stepped closer to him.
“Sheppard and her: it’s about time. You and her: no way in hell. If I ever hear you brag about a woman... any woman again... I’m sending Sheppard after you. Got it?”
Branton looked pale as he nodded in understanding.
“Now get back to work.”
Branton immediately did what he was told and Rodney couldn’t hide the victorious smirk.
The End.
