I didn't know what to think, it was kinda confusing at the beggining, but my question will be "did elizabeth end so bad after the storm that she cannot face another one?" I have been thinking about it for the whole weekend, hope you can write more about it, explain elizabeth attitude or how she get to be in that state of mind, WONDERFUL! :)

Author's Response: It\'s not so much that she ended so badly as to never be able to cope, so much as we\'ve never seen her do so. She reads very much as someone who represses her own problems because those of her people are more pressing. Eventually things like that, particularly traumatic incidents (and the events of Storm & Eye are unarguably traumatic) do come back to bite you if you don\'t deal with them. It\'s not a matter of personal strength, or even genetics; everyone has a breaking point psychologically. Flashbacks are common in sufferers of PTSD, and the entire Atlantis Expedition suffers that to one degree or another - as much as anything it\'s just a different set of acceptable behaviors. And if you think about it? Back on Earth would have been the first time Elizabeth was actually out in driving rain since The Storm. She\'s a bureaucrat - she spends her days indoors, and doesn\'t go off world with any regularity. Sense memory, all kinds, is one of the most powerful forms of memory, and often results in unexpected remembrance at the oddest times. Most PTSD sufferers report that smell is actually the worst trigger for symptoms, for example. The mind is a complex organ, and not one we understand fully at all. The implication in this piece of fiction is that between one thing and another, the psychological trauma Elizabeth\'s been repressing finally bubbled up. Following that reasoning, she\'s then dealt with it by the time she returns to Atlantis which is why we don\'t see her having further episodes (in addition, after a year of Atlantis being \'safe\', returning is a comfort. Earth is just different at this point)
