I loved this story - thanks so much for sharing it. You have really captured John's humour and caring nature as well as his 'never give up' attitude. I loved the scene where John & Lizzie start kissing on the snow & he rolls her over on top of him to get her off the damp ground ...what a gentleman! I also loved the last scene where they are striding towards each other and he points to her saying they still have something to talk about (Big sigh!) I love this pairing so much, they have such potential. Please keep writing

WOW!!! Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. I think I might just give up writing or reading Atlantis fics, because nothing I'll ever read or write would be as good as this one. I've read a ton of fanfic, and I can honestly say this is my absolute, hands-down favorite. What wonderful characterization, angst, and romance! You captured them both so perfectly...John's dry humor, his passion and protective nature, Elizabeth's strong presence and unapologetic femininity. You never let the forward motion stop, not for a minute. One minute we're laughing at their snowball fight, then we're breathless at their passion, then we're scared to death that one or both of them will be injured or killed, then we're grieving with Elizabeth, then we're willing John not to give up, then we're rejoicing that he's back and they're together...and every single minute of it was absolutely dead on. Teyla was perfect, Rodney was perfect, Elizabeth and John were perfection. WONDERFUL. Favorite lines:********"Yet here he was, here they were, here she was doing *that*, touching his mouth and he was oh my God, yes, damn right and yes, please and thank you, sunk."*******"he realized that this was the best planet and the best damn mission and could quite possibly be the best day of his life, ever"*********"I'm really bad with this sort of thing, but," he put a hand out tentatively to her shoulder, "I can stay here with you, if you want." Mutely, Elizabeth nodded her acquiescence. She moved forward to put her head on his shoulder and his arms came around her, stiffly at first and then with a more relaxed, comforting hold."*******"I'm sorry, Elizabeth. I wanted to come back to you, to give you this place -- whatever it's for. I wanted to see the sparkle in your eyes when you thought of the prospect of new discoveries here. I wanted to have that talk we were going to have. I wanted to show you without words how I feel about you. I wanted to tell you in no uncertain terms how much I care for you. I wanted you."********"She felt affronted by their intrusion into her private life."*********""For so long now, Elizabeth, his eyes would follow you whenever you were together. His focus would turn to you whenever you came into the same room. He had a desire to excel at missions not just for the greater good but to also please you. Your happiness gave him contentment. Did you know?" "Yes," Elizabeth replied. "Yes, I did."*********"It was not too late. He knew, so he did not die alone. He died knowing someone loved him."*********"in an instant he was with her, against her, his arms around her and he had backed her up against the wall. His hand cradled her head as he tipped her face upwards and slanted his mouth down over hers. He kissed her hungrily, greedily and she clung to him, kissing him back just as fiercely. She wrapped her arms around him and pressed closer to him, holding on tightly and not willing to let him go, not ever again."********""Rodney," Carson said patiently, "what the man's getting right now is far better medicine than I can prescribe, if you know what I mean." Rodney opened his mouth as if to argue but suddenly closed it again as his eyes grew wide. "Oh! Right."*********"Maybe after that there will be another sort of festivity to celebrate." "Well, let's no' be hasty." "Did you see them?" "Aye, that's true." "I give it six months." "Well, if I was a betting man, I'd say that John might pop the…"********I'm sorry to quote so much, but it was simply FANTASTIC. Please post again soon, because I will read absolutely anything that you care to share with us. Thank you for this marvelous story!
