Lovely stuff-- and you wrote this for ME? Thank you!! :D The end of If felt more like the 'feeling it but unable to say it', this one just feels as though John doesn't think she does feel it. Kind of a pity, but I think I know what you're getting at.

Author's Response: You know, I read through it a couple of times and I think you may be right. Maybe John has a little confidence issue with Elizabeth and doesn't think he is worthy of her love and would interpret her silence as such. Oh the angst, the angst of it all...

(Can't figure out how to make the review thingy use carriage returns...sorry!) "alone in a dark room that's never truly felt like his" -- don't know why I like this, but I do. Brings home the loneliness that must surely come from leaving everything familiar behind, I guess. "When he kisses her with every pent up emotion he harbours because of her; pain, love, grief; then that's ok" -- I love the parallel to the first story, how they're both thinking that it's okay, it's acceptable...to a point. "it's then that he knows he's equally lost and home" -- Powerful statement here. It feels as if they're both searching for something, and grieving because what they've found isn't what they really needed. "But when he whispers to Elizabeth Weir he loves her, trying to express that one infallible truth, it's then he realises it was wrong, for as much as he hoped, he knows already that she can't whisper it back." -- So heartbreakingly sad...I have to make myself think that she feels it but can't say it, otherwise I'd be too depressed. Unfortunately, I can also see where the story might mean that she just doesn't feel that way, which is SAD for John...sad for both of them! Well, great writing again...tied me in knots, I tell you!

Author's Response: Wow, thankyou so much! and with regard to the ending, you're 100% correct, I ment it to be taken either way (although I'm with you, I want her to feel it but be unable to say it). Damn, now I just made myself sad ;( lol!
